As an online student, sometimes it is easy to feel that you do not have access to the same information that on campus students do.  Cabarrus College of Health Sciences works hard to offer many digital resources to you.  These are resources that you can access from any location.  These resources include Health Databases (PubMed), Nursing Databases (CINHAL Complete through NC AHEC), and eBooks (through NC AHEC).  However, using electronic resources can be overwhelming.  How do you even log in to the database, much less find what you need?  The purpose of this guide is to help you navigate the process to help you become proficient in using the electronic sources available to you.  30 years ago, if you wanted to find information, you went to the library and used a card catalog.  Take a look at the picture below - you would spend a lot of time looking for topics in those drawers!  Today, with so many digital resources, you can find the information you need anywhere that you have an internet connection.

So digital resources are a good thing.  How to use them though.... sometimes, that is the question.  The tabs in this guide will help you learn how to search the various resources and how to find the information you need.  If you still need assistance, please feel free to  contact Cassie Dixon. 

Medical Library:

Whether studying, researching, or simply looking for a quiet place to read, the Medical Library provides an excellent atmosphere to support your academic experience.  We have academic books and journals that you may utilize.  We have 3 large work tables for group projects and 3 small tables for small group or individual work.  We have 9 computers which have access to a printer.  There are 2 mobile white boards for patron's use.  We provide natural light with one large window facing the courtyard along with some comfy chairs. We also have Self-Checkout station so you may check out a book at any time.

Physical Location:

The Library for Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is located on the lower level of the main campus building of Atrium Health Cabarrus.  When entering the building through the employee entrance, under the blue awning, take the stairwell to the right of the main hallway to the lower level. There is directional signage along the lower corridor indicating the way to the Medical Library / Information Resource Center.

Hours:

The Medical Library is staffed by librarians Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Fridays from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m and weekends by appointment.  For appointments, please email Cassie Dixon.
