Respiratory Therapy: Database vs Google

So you have been assigned a paper to write and you need to find "Scholarly Articles" and they need to be "Peer Reviewed".  Where should you go to locate those articles?  Should you use the library databases that are provided by the college?  But that is so....intimidating!  It will be faster and easier to just use "Google" (or Bing or any other search engine).  Or will it???  Databases are designed to help you quickly and accurately find the information you need to be able to produce a quality paper.  Below is a video in which a search was conducted using both CINHAL Complete (through NC AHEC) and Google.  Watch the video and see which method of searching for "Scholarly and Peer Reviewed Articles" is better....

Why not use Google and Google Scholar?

Remember, if you need any help navigating any of the Library Databases, you can refer to the tutorial on the LibGuide (NC AHEC, CINHAL Complete, PubMed, and eBooks) under the Orientation to Digital Library section here.  These pages offer both written tutorials and video tutorials on how to navigate these databases.  You may also contact the Librarian (Cassie Dixon) for assistance.  You may email, call, or stop by the Library and ask for assistance.
